Strange News from the Vatican

God made pre-humans into people, Vatican newspaper says

Is the Vatican now promoting very strange and Anti-Biblical ideas?

The above article says that God used some kind of evolutionary process to turn apes which evolved into pre-human creatures into humans according to the Vatican.

God specifically says in the Genesis account that He made the beasts, the cattle, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth ''after their own kind.'' Then God says that He personally formed man in ''His own image'' with ''His own hands'' from the dust of the ground, not through an evolutionary process, yet the Vatican denies the biblical account and approves the false theory of evolution which says that man evolved from apes.

What's going on here?

This looks like an attempt to blend creationism with evolution. But why?

What is the Vatican's game plan?

Is the Vatican trying to modernize its viewpoint to stay in the game?
This is another example of evolution through adaptability.

Is this a trial balloon that attempts to realign a medieval organization with more contemporary knowledge?

The Saints Among Us: Bart and Homer Simpson declared Catholic

The Saints Among Us: Bart and Homer Simpson declared Catholic: "D'oh! Vatican declares Bart and Homer Simpson Catholic The question is : Why?"

D'oh! The Simpsons aren't Catholic

The Vatican newspaper, L'Osservatore Romano, said recently that Bart and Homer had converted to Catholicism, based on an episode from 2005.

However, the show's producer, Al Jean, says they've "always shown them as Protestants" going to what the writers call a "Presby-lutheran" church.

Jean says it's true that "Bart and Homer were very interested in Catholicism. They liked the spaghetti dinners, and they liked the confession, where you could just absolve yourself of all your sins."

But, Jean says, "Homer would have difficulty not eating meat on Friday, not even for an hour."

The Saints Among Us: Why do people feel so proud of the canonization of...: "I read on the news: Australia celebrates first-ever saint: Proud Aussies watch on as Mary canonized http://news.ninemsn.com.au/world/81075..."

Why do people feel so proud of the canonization of someone?

I read on the news:

Australia celebrates first-ever saint: Proud Aussies watch on as Mary canonized

http://news.ninemsn.com.au/world/8107545/australians-in-full-song-at-vatican

Canadians proud that one of their own will be canonized

http://www.catholicnews.com/data/stories/cns/1000807.htm

P.S. … no Catholic bashing please. This is a serious question.

In the first article, it reads:

It's a real sense of unity, that's what happening. It's bigger than us."
"It's a spiritual awakening for us all," he said.
"We are very proud."

In the second article, ...

"The announcement of the canonization of Brother Andre is the best thing that
could have happened this year for the church of Montreal," ...
........
"For us, he is a symbol of victory. It is like winning a gold medal at
the Olympics," the cardinal said later.

I find this odd.

Many feel proud even if the majority of them aren’t going to church.

Brother André is being redrawn as a folk hero who symbolizes the triumph of a little guy born into poverty and poor health.

It’s counter-cultural in a sense. Somebody who has taken a vow of poverty, chastity and obedience and devotes his life to the sick is really not what the world of consumerism is all about.

Does church attendance go up?
I suspect it goes up in the short-term, but not in the long-run.

Weber believed that religion actually gave rise to the spread of modern capitalism, because
religion enables people to pursue their interests.

Have your say.
